Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) is a global leader in the renewable energy sector, specialising in the development, construction and maintenance of wind turbines.
With operations worldwide, Siemens Gamesa prioritises safety, efficiency and innovation, contributing significantly to sustainable energy solutions.
SGRE approached Resolution Digital to enhance induction processes and site security at two key locations: Dundee, Scotland, and Cherbourg, France.
The client outlined several crucial objectives to fortify site security and operational efficiency at both sites:
Ensure that only authorised personnel access the sites while maintaining compliance with safety regulations.
Simplify the onboarding process for visitors, contractors and employees to minimise delays and improve productivity.
Accommodate multilingual requirements, particularly for the Cherbourg site, where French is the primary language.
Recognising the expansive capabilities of Resolution Digital’s health and safety software, SGRE opted for a custom online induction platform tailored to each site’s unique needs.
This bespoke platform offers a comprehensive suite of features, including:
Using SGRE’s custom-built system, employees, contractor and visitors can now complete inductions remotely before stepping foot on-site, minimising on-site orientation time and maximising productivity from the outset.
Integrated directly into their online platform, our solution includes state-of-the-art gate and turnstile access control systems. We provided and installed the necessary hardware at each site, including ID cards and printers. This allows administrators to have a real-time log of who enters and exits the site.
Also incorporated within the online platform, our competency framework feature allows SGRE to assess and validate the skills, knowledge and qualifications of both their employees and contractors. This feature is completely customisable, allowing SGRE to define their own competency frameworks, assessment criteria and reporting metrics.
The system allows for multiple languages to be accessed, allowing for employees, contractors and visitors to complete the relevant induction in their native language.
The integration of gate and turnstile systems coupled with competency checks has significantly improved site security, reducing the risk of unauthorised access and safety incidents.
The online induction system has expedited the onboarding process, allowing personnel to complete mandatory training remotely and reducing the time spent on-site for orientation.
Each site’s induction ensures a standardised, comprehensive and high-quality safety briefing, covering various learning points to ensure effective information retention.
SGRE’s Dundee and Cherbourg sites now have a robust framework in place to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards, minimising the potential for regulatory penalties or safety breaches.
The implemented systems are designed to scale with SGRE’s evolving needs and can be adapted to accommodate changes in regulations, technology or site requirements.
Resolution Digital has been creating bespoke online health and safety solutions since 2005, offering tailored solutions to meet the unique needs of clients like SGRE.
