VPI Immingham is one of the largest combined heat and power plants in Europe, supplying electricity to up to one million homes and providing essential steam and power to neighbouring industries.
With eight sites driving progress in decarbonisation, the complexity of VPI’s operations calls for robust safety management.
Building on a successful 10-year relationship, VPI’s health and safety team approached Res Digital in 2024 to completely refresh their induction process. They wanted a modern, user-friendly platform that could keep pace with the demands of their teams and sites.
The new online health and safety induction platform is already in place at five of VPI’s major sites, with plans to expand further. It delivers:
Every person entering a site gets tailored information about its layout, procedures and safety requirements.
The platform brings consistency across locations and serves as a single, intuitive tool for multiple teams.
We worked closely with VPI to produce engaging, informative content:
Spent two days at each site capturing drone footage and key safety procedures to help users familiarise themselves before arrival.
Filming on-site procedures
Created professional videos featuring presenters and integrated footage from the sites. We also included a message from VPI’s CEO to welcome new starters.

The updated platform includes several key features:
Separate modules for visitors, contractors and employees, all with site-specific content.
Designed to meet the needs of a diverse workforce.
Users can complete their induction online before stepping onto a site.
Automates record-keeping to reduce admin work and ensure compliance.
The platform rollout, completed in phases across five sites, has delivered clear benefits:
Consistent, reliable inductions and records across locations.
Time savings for site teams and better use of resources.
Employees and contractors have praised the system’s simplicity, while the security team at Immingham notes the convenience of having all records stored in one place – eliminating time-consuming paper-based processes.
Expansion to more sites is already underway, along with plans to integrate the platform with VPI’s access control system to further enhance security and efficiency.
